4 Tips to a Better You

I’ve mentioned previously that “growth comes when you choose to grow. It is a personal choice and only becomes effective if your inner self is ready to get out of its comfort zone.” Unless you are a rock, I know you want to be better. You continue to strive to live better. You continue to learn ways to improve.

Today I will share with you four tips that will help you become a better you:

1. Identify what area/s of life you want to improve.

Take a quick self-inventory:

Do you want to improve your communication skills? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to be more thankful? Do you want to be more mindful? Do you want to spend less? Do you want to learn how to swim or sing a song?

Keep in  mind that you will not improve unless you know what area or areas in your life need some improvement. You also need to learn to accept these areas of limitations and embrace the fact that there  is room for growth and you need to improve. You have to be okay with that. With acceptance of the truth comes the motivation to start setting a goal.

2.    Set a goal for improvement.

You know the S-M-A-R-T goal – but beyond that, many people do not see results because they do not have a specific and  a more focused goal. What most people do is that they have a goal that is too broad – at least two more goals could fit under that overarching goal. A goal is simple. A goal is something that is achievable. A goal is ‘the result of which all efforts are directed.’

For example if you want to live better, you must start with a goal such as, “I will stop drinking soda for one week.”

3.    Be consistent: it’s the tiny habits that count.

It did not take one day for someone’s teeth to be rotten nor it did not take a week or two for someone to gain 20 lbs instantly. It is in the daily habits that make up the results.

In the same way as building bad habits are born, developing a better you takes a while to build up. But just like anything else – it is through small steps done consistently and in small increments that bigger results are made.

So, if your goal is to save $100,000 in 10 years, start by saving at least $200 per week. From there, start cutting back you expenses on things that may not be necessary and saving $30 a day. By the end of each month, you know you have pocketed $200.

4. Believe in yourself and surround yourself with people who also believe in you.

When you believe in what you can do, you will succeed. If you have no faith, make that as your goal. Because believing in your capacity to do small things and achieve them will bring more and bigger successes in the future.

It is also important that you surround yourself with positive and like-minded people like you. Positive people will bring you up and will help you achieve faster. They will be their to support you all along your journey.

Simple Steps to Success: If you want to become better, put those four tips mentioned above into practice.
